Visit to Porto and the Ferreira Porthouse

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful city of Porto in Portugal, a trip that left us deeply inspired and enriched. One of the highlights of our journey was our visit to one of the most famous and authentic porthouses and storages: Ferreira.

Ferreira’s rich history, dating back 270 years, is steeped in tradition and innovation. What truly captivated us were the stories of the powerful and progressive women who have guided the business to great heights over the centuries. Their vision and leadership have left an indelible mark on the world of port wine, and it was fascinating to learn about their contributions firsthand.

Our tour of Ferreira included a visit to part of the old underground city of Porto. Walking through these historic cellars, surrounded by the scent of aging wine and the cool, dark atmosphere, was an experience we will never forget. The sense of history and the craftsmanship that goes into producing each bottle of port was palpable, making the visit all the more inspiring.

Of course, the wines and ports themselves were a highlight of the visit. Tasting these exceptional drinks, each with its own unique character and flavor profile, was a true delight. The complexity and richness of the ports were a testament to the skill and dedication of the winemakers at Ferreira. We hope to bring some of the inspiration we gained from this trip into our work at Highraven, and we look forward to sharing more of our adventures and creations with you.
